Membership of the Police Federation includes entitlement to free legal advice in respect of any personal injury suffered, whether on or off duty. In short, if you are injured and someone else is at fault, be it an RTA; neglect; failure to maintain equipment etc. you can seek advice as to whether or not you can make a civil claim for compensation . This could mean a claim against the Force in some cases and the implementation of the Health and Safety at Work Act makes this even more pertinent.
The civil claims process starts with the claimant filing in a form, which we then send off to our solicitors. The claimant then becomes a client of the solicitors and the Federation picks up the bill!
Please contact either the PF Claimline on 0800 9171 999 or contact the Federation office for a C1 form (or download from here by following this link: C1: Application for legal assistance - CIVIL claim.
). Complete the form and return to the Federation office, along with any other relevant information, where we will apply for funding via Leatherhead - your claim would then be directed to Pattinson & Brewer Solicitors.
